Hiking in the Zillertal

The picturesque mountains and impressive summits around 4-star superior Hotel Sonnenhof cast a spell on all hiking enthusiasts and mountain climbers!

The 340 km long network of hiking paths in the Zillertal Arena lead over lush alpine meadows, rushing mountain streams, and across the countryside of the Zillertal to Salzburg. Unique theme paths such as the Jodelwanderweg (yodel trail), the Fischlehrpfad (fish nature trail), the Holzweg (wood trail), the Schmankerlweg (culinary trail), and the Kreuzweg Maria Rast (pilgrimage trail) provide additional hiking fun for the whole family, and along these trails, you can feel the regenerative power of the mountains.

Kreuzwiesenalm

In one of the sunniest and most beautiful places in the Zillertal Arena, the Krezwiesenalm at an elevation of 1,884 m invites you to savor Tyrolean specialties and tasty refreshments. On the splendid panoramic terrace, you can enjoy the pleasant sunshine with a spectacular view of the Zillertal mountains. By the way, you should also try the mouth-watering “Melchermuas”!

Zillertal Activcard

The Zillertal Activcard, which is valid from the end of May to the end of October, is the key to incomparable mountain experiences, unique highlights, and free use of public transportation in the Zillertal (except the steam train). In addition, the card includes one daily ride up and down on 1 of the 10 summer lifts in the Zillertal. You will also receive free admission to all 6 outdoor pools in the Zillertal and great discounts from the many partner businesses. The card is available for a validity period of 3, 6, 9, or 12 consecutive days.
